I just trapped a kitten whose right eye doesn't track with her left.  Is
this a common condition?  Will it clear up?

Anybody want to see pictures of an adorable wee little gray and white
kitten?  Anybody want one?

Yes, to the first question.  Sorry, no, to the 2nd.  I don't know about the
lazy eye thing.

Whatever happened to the feral kitty you let loose?  Does he still come back to
eat?

Pictures are here, get her while she's cute:

The lazy eye is clearly evident in some of the photos.

Shadow, the feral cat with the broken leg is doing ok.  When I
"released" him, I merely stopped locking him up in the house.  He still
comes and goes as he pleases, and often sleeps in the laundry room next
to the water heater.  He still hates me.  He still has a fascination for
my cat "Pip".  He seems to have lost some of his unique personality,
though, less cheerful, less affectionate (towards Pip, not that Pip has
ever given him any encouragement).  I think that being out of
circulation for a month resulted in loss of status among the ferals.

She's cute, are you keeping her?

Glad Shadow is hanging around still.

This is difficult to write with 25 lb. of cats on my lap.  I've locked
the kitten in the bedroom so I can let my cats have some quality lap
time.  They're feeling neglected, and are under stress from a new stray
who's been coming into the house.  They don't like the kitten either.  I
think they're jealous.

I really want to get rid of her while she's still cute.  I have plenty
of other cats to take care of that are not cute anymore, or even very
nice or friendly.  I have been taking her to work with me and leaving
her for the office staff to try and unload on an unwary visitor, but I
think they're sabotaging my effort by bonding with the kitten
themselves, even though they won't take it.

This one pretty much sums up my feelings on the matter--before you read
it, I hereby denounce it as bad poetry in the worst tradition of
America's most famous bad poet, Edgar Guest, but it will still make you cry:

I think it will be quiet around here now.  So long.

Thanks, I didn't feel like crying right now but I bit.

Maybe she could be your permanent office cat?  There is at least one person on
this newsgroup who has indoor, resident cats at her workplace (Liz).  I always
thought that would be so nice to work in a place like that just so some more
kitties could get a home.  Maybe someday...

Since the boss is allergic to cats, that suggestion has merit.  Come to
think of it, I haven't seen much of her in the last week...  I'd rather
bring in the stray who's been terrorizing my cats, though.  He's a big,
beautiful orange cat, incredibly friendly, with an oversized head.  Of
course the "office cat" lobbyists would much rather have the kitten.

He's obviously not neutered. Take him to the vet, get him fixed, and
he'll not only lose a) the ability to create more unwanted cats and b)
the tomcat jowls. but he'll probably ease up on your cats as well.

Awwwwww. What a sweetie. Poor wee thing. She looks kind of quiet.

When they are little, often they have one lazy eye.  It should get better with time.

Consult the vet you are working with.  Campus Cats has trapped many a
feral kitten, yet I've only seen one cock-eyed kitten, and she was a
purebred!  The condition greatly improved over time.  (I did some
follow-the-finger eye exercises with her.)

Always best to ask your vet, though.

Lazy Eye Kitten has a new home with another kitten, two dogs and three
human children.  I had her a little over a week.  From wild, feral
kitten she bonded to me in two days.  I am surprised at the way I bonded
to her, and how much I was hoping I'd be stuck with her.

A Cherokee First Nations elder was teaching his grandchildren about
life. He said to them, 'A fight is going on inside me ... it is a
terrible fight and it is between two wolves.

One wolf represents fear, anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance,
self- pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride,
superiority, and ego.

The other stands for joy, peace, love, hope, sharing, serenity,
humility, kindness, benevolence, friendship, empathy, generosity, truth,
compassion, and faith. 'This same fight is going on inside you and
inside every other person.

'The grandchildren thought about it for a minute and then one child
asked her grandfather, "Which wolf will win, grandfather?" The old
Cherokee simply replied, "The one you feed."

Nice job, John.

Oh, well, that's a good thing.  Right?  Congrats on a happy ending.
