Had Kiki to the vet today. He suspects stomatitis.
He gave her an injection of Depo-Medrol which he says seems to be
working well in a number of his patients with the same problem.
He advised against pulling teeth if it isn't necessary as it could
cause more problems if one were to break off or something.
Said she'll maybe have to have the steroid injections every couple of
months or so depending on how long they provide relief for her. That's
not so bad, $20.00 per injection and said he wouldn't charge me an
office call each time, which is a relief.
He also said steroid usage in cats doesn't cause the long term effects
that it does in dogs.
Let's hope this gives her relief. Apparently this is not an unusual
condition as he's seen 3 more cats this week with the same problem.
Thank all of you for your input. I so appreciate your being here. Patty

Patty, you might call around and see if there is a vet trained in dental
with the right equipment. My vet would not consider pulling teeth either
until she was comfortable, got training, and bought the right equipment.
That's why Grant was on meds so long. Once she got training, and the right
equipment, she has found it has worked better than meds. I think your vet is
wrong about long term effects. They *can* cause problems.
