One of my cats is bad about peeing off the edge of her litter
pan. Changing it often doesn't help. So I bought a much larger
pan, thinking at her old age she was having trouble manouvering
in the smaller pan.
Question: Is she likely to resent the change of pans and not use
it at all? It's a different color - couldn't find a match. I
thought about putting the old pan in the new one for a while. Or
am I worrying too much? As usual.
Anyone have any experience with this?
TIA

My expert opinion is: try it and see! :) I do not imagine
she is decorator enough to note the color, but the height
of the larger pan, if greater than the smaller pan and especially
if she has a bit of arthritis, might bother her. Let us know what happens.

Thanks to all of you. About three days now and so far so good.
I worry too much.

No you don't. You're a good cat papa. :-) And I
LOVE that Nietzche quote.

It's a good idea to try using a larger pan. We always buy the largest size
available. As for color, I don't think our cats really care or notice what
color the pan is, but then, they aren't picky about litter pans. They have never
even seemed to notice when we replace an old one with a new pan.
I think it's more important to put the new pan in the same place the old one
was. I expect she will have no hesitation using it--it might smell different
but you could put a little of the old litter into the new pan so that it smells
pretty much the same.

Cats are individuals, but I would say most don't mind. Just let her
use the litter in the old pan and then dump it in the new. She'll
think she's been there before. I have Kami in a covered box for litter
flinging and I don't recall any fuss about the change It's good we
have it because sometimes she's so close to the edge I would expect to
have the same issue as you. She just barely steps in and then pees.
Sometimes can hear it against the side. She poos facing the other
direction--nose out the door. Then she runs without burying. Phew!

Well, would you?

My cat had the same problem (peeing on the side) and also kicking the litter
outside the box. I got a much larger box and it really helped. She had no
problem at all adjusting to it. I actually think she likes it. Does pee on
one end and poop on the other.
