Thanks for the info! I go through a lot of laser pointers! I find
it just cheaper and easier to spend another $7 for a new one, but
I'll have to look into this.

we switched to laser pointers that just use AAA batteries. not sure about
the battery life yet though. the watch type batteries were more expensive
than a new laser pointer (cheapest i could find them was home depot and they
were still like $6-7)
