A new cafe in Midtown is hoping for a big feline following.

The Meow Mix Cafe opened on Fifth Avenue Tuesday. It offers entertainment
for both cats and owners and will even host pet parties.

The new store has left some raving and others speechless.

The cafe's signature dishes include the Upstream Dream for a finicky salmon
loving feline and the Cluck-a-Doodle-Do for the cat who fancies chicken.

I seriously don't see how this could last. My cats freak out if they have
to go outside (in the carrier, to the vet). Even if food was waiting at the
other end, they'd be too scared and would just stay in the carrier. Even
Stinky, who spends half the day asking "When's dinner?!?! I'm starving!".

Depends on whether you have gotten your cats used to traveling. Ours would be
okay with it---especially the one that spends half the day asking when's
dinner! Not that I would take them into NYC for that. But if there were such a
cafe in our neighborhood, I might try it.

I'm presuming, however, that the cafe has take-out--for those cats that prefer
to stay at home.

I found another article about the cafe, and it's only going to be temporary.
It's also being run by the company that makes Meow Mix food, so I guess this
cafe is like McDonald's for cats. Seems they're trying to get into the wet
food market. Even if my cats would enjoy going out, I wouldn't bring them
to this place.

With Meow Mix it is probably a publicity stunt. Cat cafes are not a new
idea. Meow Mix likes to think they are the only ones coming up with original
ideas. I remember when Meow TV came out and they were trying to make
themselves look like they were the only ones that came up with the idea. Of
course you don't see it anymore and I don't think their ratings were good. I
watched one of the shows and it was mainly one big advertisement.
