Delilah has had this condition for just about 48 hours now.
Vet says unlikely from prednisone, more likely from an unsually stressful week
(at Neurologist Wednesday to find out about blindness and probably brain tumor
and I was extremely upset, then 3 seizures on Thursday, Friday morning I
brought her to have her backend shaved to help keep clean after the first bout
of the runs). This was very upsetting to her as they said the diarrhea was
explosive. I think the combination of me not being there, and the noise of
dogs nearby not to mention being blind, really stressed her out.
Per the vet, I've been feeding her baby food meat variety since 3 p.m.
yesterday. That was 15 hours ago and since then she's still had a 2-3 BM's
that were runny (last one sometime in the past 3 hours). It's a small amt.,
not explosive and controlled, she gets to the box in time.
She's not lethargic so I think she's avoided dehydration (I don't think she's
drunk much if any water in last 24 hrs but baby food is watery and I thin it
down much more to get her the water that way.
Has anyone had a cat with this condition for this long?

I hope there isn't any onion powder in the baby food....please check. Onion can
have a bad effect on cats and some baby food use it for flavor.

Get some acidolphulis capsules at a health food store. Open a capsule
and mix the powder in her soft food (it has no taste). This will
replace the healthy bacteria that may have been "killed" by medication.
You could also use LIVE CULTURE yoghurt if she will eat it (same
effect).

Leslie, my vet told me to get the baby food without onion powder, so she's okay
there.
These are just strained baby meats with nothing but meat and broth (chicken,
turkey, veal, lamb).
Mike, I will mention the acidolphulis next time I talk to vet. I'm not
second guessing you personally, but in general I won't give anything to my cat
unless vet signs off on it first.
Per the vet's order, I waited until 10 to give her a small amt of baby food.
Added a little water and her crushed prednisone (I've not yet mastered pilling
with just my 2 hands and I live alone). Within 30 min she pooped a little,
still runny but maybe just a bit thicker. She said if not improving, their
hospital is open Sunday 2-4 during which time I could pick up a anti-diarrheal
med for her.

Some years ago when I still had IKE (RB), the vet recommended the
acidolphulis when he (IKE) got the runs from an antibiotic.

yogurt and canned pumpkin are great for diarrhea (and constipation)

pumpkin, that's interesting!
I've read a few posts where some have done a home diet of boiled chicken with
rice (my mom complains that rice binds her so I wonder if that's the purpose of
the rice).
she hasn't pooped in 5 hours so that's a good sign.
