after about a month of loudly saying "Shaina, NO, go away", pointing
at her and the floor, and carrying her out of the room, Shaina decided
to acknowledge our distress when she pounces towards our food in a
dinner tray. now, we just have to point at her and say sternly
"Shaina! NO" and she looks up while pressing herself to the bed, jumps
off and sits. she waits about 5-7min, climbs onto a chair, or a night
table, and jumps on to the bed with a dinner tray from there. we
point again and look at her trying to make "scary" eyes. she leaves.
she may do it again, but the she finally leaves us alone.
i sighed in relief today saying that she finally learned. my
boyfriend said that she just doers't like being pointed at.
oh, so she doesn't' want to eat with rude people who point at her.
i'm fine with that.
she still eats out of my ice cream bowl with me, but it's ok because
the bowl is large enough for the both of us. :)

I don't want to be rude but your poor kitty won't know the difference and
will be confused. Be consistent either let them near your food, or don't.

i know what you mean, but we only eat of a dinner tray on one room and
that's where we dont' want her getting into the food. the other times
i let her have my icecream is in a different room, near a computer.
it seems that she notices the difference very well. she approaches
the icecream bowl, or whatever else it is i have ok and if i move her,
or the food, she goes back to it. but in the other room with a tv, she
tires to sneak up to the food and once we tell her to leave, she does.

we were eating today, off the dinner trays, she didn't come in until
much later and left all by herself as soon as we took her off the bed.
of course, she might not have been hungry. :)
