I posted a few weeks back about my absolute contempt for whoever dumped a
real sweet female cat in my neighborhood.
As it turns out, she now has a permanent home with the guy who lives behind
me. She wandered off and wasn't seen for a few days. I thought she had been
taken by a man who had inquired about her earlier. It seems that she was
wandering the back yards and happened to take an interest in the restoration
project being done on a 50's street rod at the neighbor's house.
He says that every time he reached for something the cat would stick her paw
out on top of it and just sit there with what could only pass for a cat
grin. He already has a cat and a small mixed breed dog, but this little lady
hit it off just beautifully with both of them. So, she's been named Hobo,
has a new collar with her name on it, a fresh application of Frontline and
is getting her vet work done.
We found out about all this a few days ago. My son was in the back yard
playing and Hobo heard him. She popped up on top of the 6 foot privacy fence
and said hello. This cat would spend the whole day out back playing with my
son and following him around so renewing the friendship just came natural
for her.
She's a very calm cat. Nothing seems to upset her at all. I rolled the
lawnmower into the back yard tonight and she never flinched when I started
it up a mere 10 feet from her. She watched with no more concern that if I
was merely walking around until I started heading her way. Then she just
very calmly walked over to a spot I already mowed and laid down again. The
neighbor got a heck of a deal. Hobo made out pretty good too.
