Anyone know if there is a need and a procedure to donate cat CRF
supplies such as a case of Ringers, some common meds, etc to a needy
recipient ? Sadly, they are no longer of use to our friend but we
thought they might help someone else's. Hate to just throw them out.
Any suggestions appreciated.
Thanks.

I donated mine to my vets' office. When my CRF cat died, she had a
gazillion meds/things leftover (she also was hypothryroid & had liver
disease).
My vet told me that since they can't sell opened meds, that they take
donations of leftover supplies & meds, & donte them - with the donor
animal's & human's name - to clients who are in finacial straits. I thought
this was a great way to memorialize my cat's life. :-) So a couple of days
after her death, I carted two bagfuls of leftover meds, sub-Q fluids,
needles, etc. over there.

That's what I did with Shadow's leftover meds. They told me they will
donate them to "[likely] an elderly person whose heart is in the
right place but no funds to medicate their pet."

I donated my leftover CRF supplies to my vet's office asking that they give
it to another client or clients that couldn't afford such supplies.

I am in Southern California.
To all the others, thanks for taking the time to reply.
Unfortunately, my vet was the first person I asked about donating -
she looked bewildered and said it had never come up before but doubted
that the rules of the pet hospital (where she practices) would accept
donated supplies, meds, etc due to the possibility of legal liability
if something turned out to be wrong with it.
I will follow up the lead and post on Yahoo however.
Thanks again everybody!

In addition to the suggestions to donate to your vet's office, you
also might want to check the Yahoo CRF group -- I believe members
there sometimes donate supplies to help out others on the group who
are in tight financial straits.
