my kitten had little spots over her eyes where she doesn't have that
much fur anymore. she doesnt' seem to have any skin conditions and is
not itchy. i wonder if this is just from grooming herself with her
paws.

Hi,
You should take her to see the vet. She might have ringworm,
a fungal infection that makes the hair fall out. It usually
starts on the cat's face.

it's not ringworm for sure. i know exactly what it looks like and
what she has on her face is just less hair between her ears and her
eyes. doesn't look like ringworm infection at all. she doesn't have
it on her chin, or around the base of her tail. anyway, she couldn't
have gotten infected - i haven't been around any cats, or dogs, or
people with ringworm and she is always indoors.

There are scent glands located in the area you mention. The thin hair makes
it easier to deposit scent when they rub against various objects
'landmarking' their territory. Watch your cat - she will rub those exact
spots against corners, furniture, etc.

aaah, yes. that makes sense. i've seen cats do that. i'm not sure
i've seen her do that - she is just too hard to keep track of right
now.

Do you mean bwtween her ears & her eyes - sort of where a person's temple
would be, only up just a bit? If so, then some cats just have sparse hair
there.

yeah, exactly there! i recall my other cats having those. i know
what ringworm infection looks like in people - i got that from a cat a
few times, when i was little and i know what it looks like in a cat.
Shaina doesn't have it. first, it looks nothing like it - healthy
skin, no redness, no flakiness, no scaly skin, just sparse hair.
second, there's no way she could 've gotten it from anywhere - she is
a strictly indoor cat.
i think it's from rubbing her face with her paws when she grooms
herself.

All cats have thinner fur in patches sort of between their eyes and their
ears. This is one place where they have scent glands. You'll notice them
rubbing their faces against objects -- that's to mark them with their
scent from those glands.
Are you sure that's not what you're seeing?

yeah, i think it's that. i know my demon cat at my mom's house does
that - rubs that part of her face on furniture and on us. i just
don't notice Shaina do that because she is like a little electron at
the moment. her skin underneath the sparse fur looks healthy. i'm a
very protective mother-cat. :)

Does your cat have dark fur there? I notice the thin hair more on my black
cat than some of the lighter colored ones but they all have "sparce" fur in
that location.
