Giant Schnuazer mix with swollen hock and wrist

My 4 year old dog Bailey recently developed a swollen hock and was favouring
that foot. Since compensating for the leg, he has developed an opposite
swelling of his front wrist. Bailey has been for almost a week very
lethargic, and the swelling has increased in the hock and now the wrist even
though he is getting 3 Bufferin (as per vet because he's 90 pounds) every 12
hours. He has since lost his appetite, drinking lots of water and stays
pretty much in the same place for hours at a time. We have hardwood floors
and he is going to get a crib mattress tonight to sleep on.

He has no loss of bowel control, gums and eyes are good and pees when has
too, just spends a lot of time laying down. I also noted he has rumbling in
his lungs. The vet doesn't think he has cancer as tumours are usually very
sensitive.I was giving him Glucosamine sulphate but I stepped it back as the
bottle says it should be taken with food.

Does anyone out there have any ideas or similar experiences??

Thanks

Rick

Why are you cross-posting to a cat's newsgroup?

Why are you quoting the entire post which "offends" you, effectively
propagating it a second time? Oh yeah -- because you're developmentally
disabled.

Maybe the guy's just trying to cast as wide a net as possible to get an
answer.  Many cat people also have dogs, or there could be a disease that's
common to cats and dogs.  What's the big deal?  I know you don't like dogs,
but why do you have to be rude about it?  The poster obviously cares about
his dog.

About the original question, I don't have much experience with dogs, but
Lyme disease does sound like a possiblity, as someone else suggested.  I
would take him to the vet ASAP.

I'd do x-rays, and also talk to your vet about Lyme's disease. Swollen
joints and lethargy give me a bit of a red flag on that one.
