I posted earlier about Stella, my 8 month old kitty scratching in the sink
and squatting. She only does this when I go to the bathroom, not my fianc?.
Well, last night, after all the trying (she looks like she's trying to pee)
she finally did. Just a little, but pee nonetheless. Happened again this
morning. She is a healthy girl and only does this with me. Why would she be
doing this?

She's just a baby. Maybe she's theorizing that she wants to pee like
the humans do - down a hole with water and since she can't fit in the
toilet - that the sink is cat-sized. LOL.

Try picking her up gently when she's in the sink and relocating her to
the litterbox each time.

Must be a cat thing.  I used to have a cat that would use the hole in the bath tub if we had managed to shut the door that led to his cat box.  The pee wasn't hard to handle, but he would sh.t there too.  That's a hole bunch better than on the carpet or divan!

She probably thinks of you as the dominant female and is trying to emulate you.

I don't know but I'd count it as a blessing.  If she does this
consistantly all you would have to do to the box is scoop out the
turds and flush them.

My cat-an overweight 2 y/o tabby hops up on the sink when I go to the
bathroom also- not to pee but to wait for me to turn on the water.  He
then indulges himself in the good old h2o.  He drinks like this is his
only water source.  I  think its cute but it does make it difficult to
shave in the morning.
.oO rach Oo. - 01 Jul 2004 13:14 GMT
LOL I hear you there... Our cats do that too but it's teeth brushing they
tend to hinder. You have to spit around two cats. Stella will also perch on
my shoulder when I am brushing and last week she had her back to the mirror
and her tail kept going in front of my mouth *just* as I'd be putting the
toothbrush in... I'd pull back just in time and so the game went. I thought
I finally had a clear path but she ended up with toothpaste on her tail.
THAT took a while to get off.

Ah, it's adult Len's turn at the computer. Glad to see the disgusting
juvenile isn't doing the typing today.

Are you sue she is healthy?  Cats will often seek water to relieve
urination pain.  Since the sink holds water, it smells like water even
if there is little or none in it.  Cats will often pee in sinks and
tubs when they have UTIs.

The time to worry is when it starts pissing up your leg and you thought only
dogs done that.

When my cat, Burton, died, we should have had the following words
inscribed on his tombstone, "His feet never touched kitty litter!"
And they didn't. He was a wonderful cat but he never went in the kitty
litter. Never. always in the tub. since we loved him so much we just
put up with it. After all, it is easy to clean up.

Len, after seeing the tone of most of your posts, I don't think you
have a lot of room to critique the behavior of others. I've seen a
total of two pleasant posts from you so far. How about if you do a
little less fishing to piss Mary off and focus on proving that you,
yourself, are not a troll? I'm quite sick of seeing this little flame
war get stirred up again just when it looks as though it's about to
die down, and I'm tired of watching people whose posts and apparent
personalities I like very much snipe at each other. So far, you've
done little to demonstrate that your sole purpose here is not to stir
up adversarial behavior.

Don't behave like your son does, or some may think that your son is a
work of fiction.

Why, because I asked you why most of your posts sound like you're
trolling? Good god, grow up. There was *nothing* vile about my posts
to you. You must be a troll, because no sane adult behaves like you
do.

Well, it's - obviously - up to you, but she often has good ideas & will
share whatever knowledge & experience she has, re: cat care/health.
