Well not actually declawed but while at the vet yesterday, they trimmed
his claws very close.  He is having trouble grabbing onto window sills
etc.  How long will it take them to grow back?  I never trim his claws
so he is not used to the dull tips.

Not very long. My vet trims claws close when the cats go in, but I bet three
days later they have grabbing ability back. Especially if they have sisal
scratch posts, they sharpen up quick. It's kind of sad to watch them falling
off sills and cat trees while they grow back though. Still, I think it's
healthy. My cats have a terrible time with loosened claw sheaths bugging
them and I think a good trimming helps.

Poor Tiger!  Vets are notorious for trimming claws too short and that's why I
always insist that they leave them alone.  It should take a few weeks probably
for them to grow back I would imagine.

Actually, he is doing better today.  He used the big scratching post a
few times and was able to get up on some of the window sills where I
have nailed down pieces of carpet.

i've trimmed Shaina's claws during the first week i got her and i did
it myself.  she was lethargic and ill at the time, so she hardly put
up a fight.  now, i cab barely feed her 0.2 ml of liquid vitamin
medicine with a pipette!  i have no idea what it would be like to trim
her claws myself.  my boyfriend first was helping with holding her,
but i realized that he just keeps her on his lap, barely hold her,
pets her and looks at me like i'm torturing him too, so now i work
alone.

Guilt is a powerful thing. ;-)
