Hi---I have a problem and I know somebody must have had the same:

My 14 year old nutered male uses the litterbox to pee, but recently has
started to use the living room to poop in---he has a favorite spot right
in front of the front door.

He is an indoor cat (he has a pot of green kitty grass to chew on); he's
playful and energetic and eats well, he's talkative and seems physically
normal in every way.

I clean his box out daily and keep the litter raked. he has no interest
in using it for solid waste any more. Any ideas??  Its making me crazy
and I don't think he should be punished: I'm not angry, just puzzled and
exasperated. What is he trying to tell me?

Give him a second litter box.
