is it possible to feed a kitten too much?

MadHatter - 16 Jun 2004 00:26 GMT Shaina became a little food-monger. now a tea-spoon of canned food is not enough and she can gulp down a table spoon. her tummy looks normal for a kitten, as i was told here, but it seems to make it uncomfortable for her to clean herself. she demands her wet food, but i suppose if she actually wanted to eat, she would eat her dry food.

Well, she might be making up for lost time. :-) Since you said she has been thoroughly de-wormed, I'd just feed her small portions of wet food very frequently and leave the dry available just in case (since she doesn't seem to want it anyway). When you say she seems to be uncomfortable cleaning herself, what indications are you getting that this is the case? Is her tummy really, really big, or is it like the tummies of the kittens in the pictures I posted?

As long as she is eating and drinking and peeing and pooping and starting to perk up, I'd say she's probably progressing just fine. :-)

I love kittens. *g*
Yeah, they do tend to fall over when they try to contort themselves into interesting positions to clean. As she matures, that'll go away. Enjoy the antics while you can - they grow up so fast. Although I have a 4 year old who still seems to think her tail is chasing her sometimes... <hehe>
