There are 6 pictures of Sammy and her 6  new babies posted at
alt.binaries.pictures.animals. I was obligated to include a picture of my
other sweetie, Cassie, who is never far from the action. She was making
noises of inquiry during the picture taking as if to inquire whether she
would be included, so I accommodated her wish.

Sammy has such a sweet, beautiful face!

Rob, looks like one of the orange kitties is very light like Sammy. I think
that is beautiful coloring. One thing, you don't notice the black one on the
outside, at her back a lot, as we see in that one photo, do you? This was
the first sign that a calico I fostered was rejecting one of her seven
kittens. I am sure Sammy will not do this, but just wanted to bring it up so
you'll be on the lookout.

Sammy seems to have at least one of the kittens on her back, under her tail,
or in some other spot most of the time. It has the appearance of being on
the outside looking in but she takes equal care of all of them.

I guess with her being so small and there being so many babies it's hard to
get a fit at the belly at all times. There always seems to be a squabble
going on for nipples. Sammy has 8 nipples, 6 kittens. They don't usually
arrange themselves in such a way that everybody has easy access.

One in particular I notice is very physical - paddling and shoving at any
kitten that crowds his space too much.

Whoa. Cats have eight nipples?? I could have sworn the calico only had six.

Sammy has the first set almost  between her front legs but slightly
rearward.

She is quite pretty

Come to think of it, I might have pulled the black one out and placed him
there myself to make him more visible in the picture. He's usually one of
the ones most firmly fastened one to a nipple so I don't think rejection
will be an issue.

Wonderful. What a handful!! I hope you find homes for everyone. Get friends
and relatives in early so they will fall in love !

Sammy looks a *lot* like Mamacat (the stray/feral/whatever she was
who showed up pregnant at my house and who was the mother of Camille
and Oscar)! Kittens are soooo cute. Hellions, but cute. :-)

My wife has never been around a litter of kittens. I've tried to prepare her
for the group invasions of toe biters that will visit the bed form time to
time, the puffed up spitting attack and retreat attacks on the feet from
under various objects and around doorways, etc. Looking around I'm kinda
glad we haven't got around to new curtains just yet... :)

Take the covers off of your speakers, too.

I've got mesh metal grilles across those. A kitten I kept for a while long
ago managed to climb inside the enclosure through the bass port at the
bottom. He got his neck in between 2 of the wires and kept turning around
until the wires were twisted tight around his throat. I had an electric
screwdriver handy and managed to remove the woofer, unplug the wires and get
him free before he choked. No more open faced enclosures if the bass reflex
port is exposed.

Sammy and babies are great, but I wanted to say that Cassie is a pretty
girl, too!

Cassie is the queen of the roost. That expression of hers in the picture is
pretty much a constant. How can ya have a bad day with such a happy cat
around?
