We have two female cats, a 1 year old and a 2 year old living in a
townhouse. Both cats get along with each other fine. We are getting
a roommate for the summer (3 months) who has a cat. The new cat is
also female and 4 years old.
What is the best way to introduce the new cat to the house? My
thoughts are to keep the new cat in a separate bedroom for a period of
time and slowly introduce the other cats to her. Does anyone have any
suggestions?
thanks

Yup.. that is the best way. You can gauge how the introductions are going
to go by the residents reaction to the stranger behind the door. If they are
interested and not aggressive, then you can do the intros sooner rather than
later. If they puff up and are growling and generally are showing their
disapproval, you'll need to leave the newbie in the room a while longer.
After a few weeks, they'll come to accept that there is a new cat in the
house and you can start intros then.
Good luck!

Google for "cat introduction" and you'll get a boatload of lengthy
advice on how to go about doing this. :-)
