Hi,

I am just wondering if anyone out there might be able to give me some
insight on my cat's problem.

Oreo is a shorthair tuxedo cat.  He is almost 11 years old now.
Lately I have found that he hair on his back near the tail get really
lumpy.  I tried to give him baths, and brush him, those lump just
wouldn't untangle.

I am just wondering if it could be some sort of disease or is it
normal??

He is an indoor cat, never go outside and he is a bit overweight
(18lbs).

Thank you,
Oreo

This happened with Tiger - who is long haired.  I had to take him to the
vet to get his back "shaved" to remove the mats.  You might try a
grooming comb but if it gets caught in the mats you may have to take
Oreo to a groomer - or a vet if he won't hold still for a groomer.
