Scarlett acting like she's in heat

Scarlett was spayed at about 5 months old and she's now going on 4
years old. I caught her rolling around on the floor with her tail
flying wildly, like she's in heat, and the boys (both neutered, one
is her littermate) act like they try to mate her by biting her neck
and holding her down and mounting her. No one has the ability to
impregnant anyone, but this is a bit weird.  Other than the
possibility of Scarlett still having some female parts left inside
her, the only thing I can think of is the female mice I have. They
are intact and there are no males.  2 of them.  Do you think cats can
sense heat in female mice and the hormones or scent is apparent to
them?

Additional info, Shamrock (neutered male about 7 years old) often
dominates Scarlett by biting her neck and meowing loudly while doing
so, so this nothing new for him.  New for Scarlett to be rolling on
the floor acting like she's in heat.

Well, all I can say is, there've been a lot of goings on at YOUR house,
young lady!

lol

Interesting idea about the mice. Could be.

Smile, I've not seen this but I have heard of it.  Even to the point of a
'false pregnancy act' (looking for a spot to have kittens, prepping a spot
for laying in) then 'adopting a furry stuffed toy'.

Call the vet to be sure but I think this one is just natures way of saying
'I want to be a mommie'.

Could be that the vet who spayed her missed a bit of ovarian tissue.
That happened to my friend's cat, and the vet had to go back in after
the cat exhibited signs of being in heat, and remove the leftover
ovarian tissue.

But before going in and "respaying" her, you might also want to have
the vet test her hormones.  Something could just be out of whack.

Hmm, I had a friend whose cat had 3 ovaries and one was left inside
because it was hidden and she had to have it removed later.  But the
"later" was only a couple of months after the initial spay.  I would
think if Scarlett had any residual tissue or another ovary that it
would have manifested before now because it's been over 3.5 years
since she was spayed, hasn't it?

Is it still going on?  I've had cats act weird for a few hours in that
way.  Maybe there's an outdoor cat in heat or some unneutered toms
around?  Or maybe it is the mice.

I'm back to work now so not at home as much as when I took a few
days off last week, so I can't tell.  Her herpes is flaring
slightly so she's sleeping a little more than usual.  Yes, I agree
that if something was left in her that she'd have acted like she
was in heat sooner which is why I don't think that's what it is.
An outside cat is a good thought, or the mice, or she just felt
good rolling around. When I had Shamrock in for a depo shot a
couple of weeks ago I mentioned about Scarlett's herpes flare up
but as I suspected, there's no point bringing her in for watery
eyes. Vet can't do anything about it. No sign of secondary
infection so I'll just keep up with the lysine and hope she feels
better soon. 3 ovaries is unusual I hope!  Sounds like fusion of
the parts of another possible littermate that got absorbed.  That
stuff is fascinating.
