We just realized that our 5 and 6 year old cats necks are bald where the collar sits. It's like the collars molded a strip of their necks hairless. I can see the skin of the cats where the collar lies on both. Is this harmful? Painful? Have you seen this phenomenon? I [quoted text clipped - 5 lines] > > What is the solution? Take off the collars, at least for a while. A vet may tell you that they have some sort of allergy to the material from which it is made. Have you considered having them microchipped for indentification purposes? Or, collars come in a fairly wide array of materials, so you can probably find one that will not bother them. See what the vet says.
