No problem - I know how RL can get in the way of important stuff like
newsgroups! ;>

Oh man, poor thing - he must feel miserable. I hope the Depo works quickly
to relieve him.

Maybe putting a little lemon juice on the back of her neck? I don't know -
you'd not want something that Bonnie was miserable having on her, but it
would have to be something that would discourage his biting.

Gee, you hear so much more now-a-days about food alergies in pets. [Knock
wood], mine haven't had any so far. They eat Fancy Feast canned with just a
tiny bit of Science Diet dry for snackies. I tried taking away the dry and
feeding only canned, but they lost way too much weight on that diet (even
though they left food in their dishes), so I ended up adding the dry back
again.

Yeah, I'm still so sad about that - he was so darn young and had absolutely
no symptoms to indicate that anything was wrong (and he'd seen a vet 3 times
in those 5 weeks he was indoors without any problems found!). It was such a
shock, not only him dying, but thinking for a while that it could be
something contagious that might kill the rest of my clowder was terrifying
(he was still quarantined, but I was envisioning devastating ariborn
viruses). We're pretty sure now, after talking to my vet and my best friend
who is a nurse, that it was his heart - he probably had an embolism and
threw a clot into his lungs. That's more common than you'd think - an
internet search found hundreds of such stories.
But, as you said, at least he died in a home having known love and a full
belly - better than if he hadn't wandered into our back yard three months
ago (a kitty haven with free food and a tall fence to keep out dogs) and
instead had died, starving or worse, alone on the street.
His grave is in our backyard next to Bandit and Percy and he will be
remembered with love for the rest of our lives.
