It's a total myth that dry food cleans a cat's teeth. Cats do not chew by
rotating their jaws but rather by chomp and swallow. Dry food is full of
carbohydrates which turn to sugar and sit on the teeth. Feline dental
problems are the result of genetics. Some cats are going to have problems
and others won't, no matter what you feed them. Cats are obligate
carnivores, and the best diet for any cat is canned food, which in addition
to providing meat, additionally provides a lot of water, which cats need.
Most cats on dry food diets do not drink enough water to compensate for the
water that is missing in their food and can be chronically slightly
dehydrated. Skip the Hills Prescription T/D and go for a good canned food
like Wellness or Innova Evo.
