I have no clue if this is feasible or not, but could you freeze excess
quantities? How about vacuum sealing?

I tried freezing it before, but it didn't seem to have the same
appeal once thawed. My cats are extremely picky. I know that's my
fault. However, I do have a foodsaver and after I fill the cereal-
sized plastic storage container with food, I store the rest in those
vacuum-sealed canisters. But with the dogfood sized bag I don't have
enough of them. The 8 lb bag was the perfect size for us. Oh well.

So wait a minute... they made a smaller than 8 pound bag?
So either your cat is a large rat or a small pony? That doesn't make
much sense to me, but I'm sure they figure they are doing consumers a
"favor."
Good luck with it.

According to this, the store I buy from is misinformed. Or else they
aren't stocking the 8 lb size.

You probably already thought of this, but I'd ask the manager of the
store to order the 4 pound bag for you if they can/will.
