I'm not sure what to do to get my cat to stop chewing.  He likes to chew on
magazine corners, paper, the bristles on my brush, wires, etc.  He seems to be
more like a dog than a cat.  I wonder if I should buy her a bone to naw at.
Any tips on how to get kitty to stop chewing?

i have the same problem.... How old is your kitten and is it declawed? i
know with the stuff i dont want him to chew on (wires, etc) i use a spray
bottle to deter him, but sometimes it just doesnt work.

If you have a kitten, it might be teething.

I use the spiral wire wrap to wrap wires that I don't want Boots chewing on.
I think the dh found it at the auto parts store. They use it to wrap wires
together in automobiles. He  was going after my mouse cord and keyboard wire
so I had to wrap both of them. He seems to be chewing less lately since he
got his adult teeth in.

I'd make sure kitty has plenty of toys to chew on. We got a stuffed animal
for Boots and he loves to chew, hug and kick the daylights out of it. He
also has a bunch of little mice he carries around and loses under the
furniture lol.

My kitty is a stray but the vet guesstimates she is around 2+  years old, so
she's not really a kitten anymore.  She is not declawed so that theory doesn't
work here.  I know some cats who are declawed are biters and chewers.  My cat
is also a biter.  She likes to bite me often.  I could be petting her and
she'll be fine and then out of nowhere attacks me.  She also is a licker.
Loves to lick everything.  I wish for once I could find an issue-free kitty.
lol!!!

My chewer, Caley, (see other response) is a licker, too.  Hmmm.  A
Freudian might posit that our cats are stuck in the oral stage of
development?  ;-)

I can't pet Tigger without her licking me. This frequently progresses to
chewing but she doesn't bite hard just gnaws. She was pretty young (around
6-7 weeks) when we adopted her so I'm not sure if this is because she was
taken from her mom too young.  She doesn't chew on anything else so I don't
worry about it.

My Caley's like that.  She chews the thumbs off oven mitts and chewed
two holes in my grandmother's damask table cloth.  My mother has yet to
forgive either of us for that one!

I get her dried pigs' ears and cut them up into slices more her size.
The other two cats like them, too.  They seem to distract Caley from
most other sources of chewing satisfaction.
