After the pet food scare I decided to switch from Nutro and feed my
cats higher quality canned food. I "parked" them on FF which is easy
to get and I know they like, and slowly introduced different wet foods
into their diet.

So far I've tried Innova, Wellness, PetGuard, California Natural, and
they don't like any of these. Does anyone have a suggestion of a brand
or flavor their cats seem to particularly like? TIA -

Have you tried Pro Plan? (although I'm convinced it's a more expensive
version of FF). Salmon and rice flavor passed the taste test. Also, the
yellowfin tuna and mackerel variety is a big hit (at 75 cents for a 3 oz
can, why not????). Chicken and liver seems enjoyed as well. And then, of
course, there is the sardines with tuna in aspic (aka "fish heads").

Thanks but I'm trying to stay away from wheat gluten, corn, and
by-products.

I use Fancy Feast Turkey & Gilblets and the Gourmet Chicken Feast -
period.  No fish and nothing that a cat wouldn't eat in the wild -
like taking down a cow.

Okay, but you said your cats are currently on FF, and AFAIK, FF and Pro Plan
are the same thing.  I would recommend the Wellness, but you already said
your cats don't like it. Have you considered Pet Promise? Like Wellness,
this is human grade food and doesn't contain any byproducts or corn meal,
etc.

Sorry, I should have been more clear. I have them on FF because they
like it, but I'm looking for a better quality food to switch over to.

Pet Promise looking promising (sorry about that), which means they
probably won't like it - LOL! I don't know why, but they always seem
to like the crappy brands more than the ones that have higher quality
ingredients.

I can't believe your cats don't like Wellness.  My cat can't get enough of
it.  He licks his dish so clean I don't even have to wash it.  :-)

Have you tried Innova Evo? Nature's Variety canned or raw is also very
good--I feed the raw with great results. www.naturesvariety.com

I didn't try the Evo. Since they didn't like Innova in the red can I
figured they wouldn't like the Evo either. Is that different enough
that I should try it?

I like the Nature's Variety, I'll give that a try thanks.

I usually buy 3 oz. cans. When you buy the larger cans, how do you
bring the leftovers to the proper temperature to feed?

What I do is add a little hot water to the refrigerated food, mix it
thoroughly (to ensure it is uniformly warm without any hot spots). I touch
it with my finger to determine that it's at a good temperature (room
temperature to slightly warm). Doing it this way also provides additional
water.

I nuke Mingy's food for 7-14 seconds.  (I also mash it with
water, because he likes a mushy texture.  As you say, it also
adds water to his diet, which is important for him.)

Mingy used to love Wellness chicken.  Now he will only eat
Natural Balance ultra.  That does contain some brown rice
powder, well down on the list.  I need to make the rounds and
see what other foods he can try.  I collected all of the
plausible-sounding ones a couple of years ago to figure out
what he'd eat.  I guess I've done that a couple of time--after
he first blocked and also when he started turning up his nose
at the Wellness....

I have recently been reading a lot of information on introducing raw
diets... have you ever considered this?
