Hello,

I have a sweet Manx but I had to take in an old cat from my daughter
whose boyfriend is allergic to cats (she loves him, what an excuse :-)
Anyway, my Manx does not growl but chases her constantly. She hides
behind my bed, poor thing. He is also very possessive I think.

Of course, it's always hard to share two cats. If I could only reduce
his chasing behavior after her, her life would be much easier. She has
been with us for one month now. I do spray with Feliway continuously
with minimal effect.

Please help!

hi there,

Could you give us a bit more information about the cats? First, how
did you introduce them? Did you do it gradually? When the Manx
"chases" the other cat, is it because he's playful or is it aggressive
in nature?

I would separate the two cats for now. Clearly, she is not happy if
she's hiding. You will most likely need to *slowly* reintroduce the
two. It could take weeks to months to integrate them. I would get
Feliway diffusers. Place one in the room of the new cat, and one
centrally located with your Manx.

Hoping to hear from you with more info. . .

Yes, I thought I did introduce them slowly. The old female, Mango,
came on and off in the past year and stayed in a closed room. So, when
it was decided that I would take her in, she stayed in the closed room
for a week before I let her out. I thought that would be sufficient.

The Manx, Simbah, is playful not aggressive. I do have Feliway (but
not the diffuser) and that helped for about one day. I will get the
diffusers and also put Mango back in the closed room for another
week. If I can get her out of the back of my bed, that is :-)

Thanks for all the support,

Make sure you have regular play sessions with Simbah to lessen his
pent-up energy.
Here's an article that you might find helpful:
