Household safety warning

Driving home tonight I heard a story on news radio about the top
ten household hazards, and suprising to me was #1, but probably
not to parents of small children. Small magnets coming out of toys
or non-toys and being ingested is the #1 household hazard.  When
they described the problem that can occur when one swallows more
than one small magnet, it was clear that this can happen with
animals, too, who are curious and some will mouth and play with
anything.  I can't find a link to their top ten yet, but this
picture shows the danger clearly. Pinched or perforated intestines
if the magnets try to attach to each other. I have deflectors on
my floor air ducts to direct the air in certain places, and they
are held on by small magnets.  I will remove them all now, because
Rhett already likes to chew on the plastic, and he moves the
deflectors while doing so. Never thought about what if he got the
magnets out and somehow ate one (one is really several stuck
together).

OOOF.  I never would have thought of that.  We have a new puppy, so it's
time for me to ensure we don't have this problem down the road.  What a
horrifying thought.
