Hello All,

Well, seeing as the weather is really warm today, and we are about to treat
Mollie for fleas, we thought it might be a nice idea to give her her first
bath, seeing as she is moulting, and we have seen flea dirt on her.  We also
bought some Frontline a couple of weeks ago, so we thought we would apply
that after she has a nice clean coat.  I am also going to vacuum the whole
house, and wash her bedding.

We bought Johnsons Cat Flea Repellent Shampoo.  Has anyone ever used this?
Should it be OK for her?

She is 4 1/2 months old now.  Not looking forward to bathing her, but I'm
sure she will feel the benefit of it afterwards!

Any advice for bathing a young kitten?!

Many flea shampoos are contraindicated for use on kittens. I'm not
familiar with the shampoo in question, and I don't know at what age
it's considered okay to use on cats, but you could probably ring up a
vet for a quick answer if need be.

I've always heard: chain mail for young kittens,
Kevlar for adult cats.

No, no, no!  Chainmail is too damn harsh for their tender paws.

Kevlar is just fine across the board. =^^=

I wouldn't use a flea shampoo THEN put on frontline.  Id recommend one or
the other.. specially for young cats.  I would recommend the frontline first
to kill the fleas, then after two or three days (after it has all well
absorbed) bath in a gentle cat shampoo.  You have to wait two or three days
after bathing to apply it anyway, and fleas can create a lot of dirt in that
time.

I would check with your vet.  Did you get the Frontline on
prescription ?
I use Acclaim spray in the house. It kills of fleas and eggs in the
carpets and soft furnishings. It only has to be done once or twice a
year.
