My sister recently moved and I loaned her two of my carriers to move
her cats, and left one with her since she had none at all. So, I have
to buy a new carrier or two and when I was in PetSmart the other day
I was disappointed with the choices. For small carriers they only had
the kind that had what I consider not very secure clips that hold the
bottom half to the top. I want the kind that has the screws with
wingnuts but can't find that kind any more. Anyone buy one recently,
and where?
Thanks in advance.

I shop the catalogues for carriers. www.petsmart.com and www.PetEdge.com.

Thanks Barb. I might have to try again with that. The problem with
ordering online is that sometimes what you get doesn't look exactly
like the image, so they could change the way it's put together and
not take a new picture. I talked with a friend of mine at work and
she said she uses the kind that have the "fold-over" connectors as
opposed to screws and it's quite sturdy. I'll give one of them a try.
Thanks for your reply.

To be sure when ordering from a catalogue you can always call them up with
their 800 number to get more info.

Cheryl I went to Wal-Mart and got some large cat/ dog cat carriers enough to
store 3 cats in if necessary for about $25.00 the smaller ones were about
$10

Thank you, Matthew. As much as I hate Walmart, I might have to go
see what they have. Appreciate the tip.

Hi Cheryl,
I agree. I thought the same thing when I went several months ago to try to
find a carrier I was in need of . I was looking for a durable/ strong, but
soft good quality carrier. I searced all over the internet, and also went
to Petsmart's and PetCo webs-sites but still could not* find what I wanted.
I finally went to my local Petsmart and wound up buying the very last* in
stock pet carrier they had called, "Samsonite Pet Travelor", which was a
black vinyl carrier capable of holding *up to 22 Lbs.*. It was fairly light
weight, with several handy pockets. It is very attractive, and kind of
European looking in quality.
I reeally like it a lot, as it was exactly* what I was looking for.
Unfortunately, and for whatever odd reason, they now apparently don't* make
them any more and I bought the last one.
Try Dr. Foster and Smith on line, http://www.drsfostersmith.com/ Although
pricey, and you have to pay for shipping, which is an added darn expensive,
they do have a fairly good selection of car carriers, IMO. Give them a try
as that's where I was going to order from it I couldn't fine what I wound up
buying/ 'The Samsonite Pet Traveler'. Good luck, and let us know if you find
what you are looking for.

Do you have a small, non-chain pet store? PetSmart and Petco don't
seem to carry very many carriers around here. There's a couple of
local stores that have a much better selection. Check your yellow
pages for stores. I'd want to see one in person too, if possible--much
better than a small photo. :)

Late follow up:
I took advice to check a specialty pet place rather than Pet* and
ended up buying one that has the fold-over type of locking
connector between the top and bottom halves. It is tight and
secure. It was $1 cheaper than on this Amazon site, and also $1
cheaper than at Pet*. I now see from searching for an image to it
that you can attach casters to the bottom for easy transport,
though my cats would probably hate that. But nice to know for
someone who might not be able to carry it.

Now I just have to get two more.
