Does anyone else have a cat who goes nuts over the smell of Altoids?

I have a friend who eats Altoids.  When she comes over, my cat goes
nuts - he goes to her and starts nuzzling around her pockets very
persistantly trying to find the source of the smell.  It's gotten to
the point that even if she doesn't have any, he still acts this way!
I've never seen him act that way over anything else.

Wierd cat!

It's mint. Cheeks does the sniff-while-mouth-hangs-open thing after I brush
my teeth. It's funny. She can be ignoring me, and I puff some air her way,
up goes the little nose and she sniffs and sniffs like, "ahhhhhh! ambrosia!"

Given that catnip is a member of the mint family, it's probably not
all that surprising, I'd guess.

BTW, nice imagery. :-)

Never had any Altoids arounf to test with but My wife's cat Sammy gose nuts
over the strawberry shampoo scent in my son's hair. If he lays on the floor
the cat will drap herself around his head, purring and kneading while making
the sappiest goo goo eyes you ever saw.

There's a little deli by my job that has a small calico cat.  Sometimes they
give her a peppermint teabag to play with.  She goes crazy, like most cats
do with catnip.

My cats love catnip, but don't really like anything minty.  They back away
if I offer them the tube of toothpaste and completely ignore mint teabags.

Not Altoids, but my one cat goes bonkers for my toothpaste.  She'll meow and
beg and beg for some.  Of course I don't give her any.  If I don't put my tooth
brush away really fast, she'll lick it.  I think it's the peppermint oil that's
in it.
