Didn't you once post something about the shelter using Program to
treat ringworm? I think you once posted the dosage and it differed
from what I have been using, but I can't find it in the archive.
Help...?!? I have to treat Peewee again - he has a spot on his toe
again - I'm thinking this will be an issue every Spring here in
Oregon. Sigh. I just hope Baby Boo doesn't get it. :(
TIA,

No, it wasn't me. We used topical ointment and Fulvicin (bah, spit). RE:
PeeWee--I think some cats (humans, too) are just more susceptible. Frank has
gotten it twice. No other cat or human in the house ever did. If Baby Boo gets
it, just pray it isn't on his face -- that's what I always did! Anywhere else I
could cover up!

My rescue group uses Program at 50mg per pound. The studies don't agree on
the success of Program, however many vets say it works. Ours recommends
Lotrimin also be used on any exposed skin. It is the same active ingredient
as the proscription, just a lower strength.

How often is the cat dosed? Every month for 2-3 months? Is there a
maintenance dosage?
TIA,

We dose them every 2 weeks till they clear up. The only real way to tell is
to have your vet take a culture from the cat. I was told to dose my others
at the same rate as a preventative since I had a ringworm cat isolated in a
cage in a spare room. I've heard of Persian and Exotic Shorthair breeders
using it for flea control and as a preventative, however I don't know the
dosage. Any persian or persian mix is more suceptable to ringworm.

Thanks. I will dose him every 2 weeks for a couple months and then go from there.
