I had a rather unpleasant visit with the vet today.  We have a new kitten
who was treated for round worms and tape worms.  I actually saw a tape
worm come out of her anus.  This kitten is the one from the feral mother
and she is an absolute love.  She's more of lap cat than our other two.

Here's the problem.  The vet wanted to treat all three cats for tape
worms and she asked me if I would pill the cats.  I do not have much
experience with pilling cats so I asked if she could do it instead.  Two
minutes later, she came back with three hypodermic needles and injected
all three cats for tape worms.  The difference in cost was enormous.  
Seven dollars for a pill, $26.00 for each injection.  Maybe this was her
revenge for my not pilling my own cats but does this seem reasonable?

She also asked one of the techs to scruff the older cat.  The tech
actually questioned whether it was necessary.  The cat was skittish but I
think this particular vet is not comfortable treating cats.  The sad thing
is the cat who was scruffed is the most nervous at the vet's office and
now it's really going to be hard to get her into the cage for her
appointments.
