Contacting Iams

Has anyone gotten to talk to a live person at Iams? I've been trying
for several days and receive nothing but a busy signal.

This morning a bit after 9:00am the phone actually rang, but all I got
was a recording with an announcement that everyone was participating
in a company-wide conference (gee, I wonder what that was all about!)
and please call back after 10:00.

I went on their website and they make it very difficult for you to
find the embeded link to e-mail them. When I clicked on it, I got a
message that their e-mail was not functioning.

I was undecided as to whether I was going to buy their food anymore,
but after this total disregard in communicating with their customers
I'm surely not going to give them my business in the future.

Hi Narnia.  I was also trying to get in touch with Iams for a fews days with
no luck.  I finally got through to menu foods late last night and was told
that they could not help me because Iams wanted to deal with their own recall.
When I called Iams after that, there was a message saying that they closed at
8.  I called this morning at 9 and got the same message as you so I called
back at 10 and did finally get through.  I have to admit that they were very
nice but I agree with you, I will no longer be giving them my business.  In a
time like this, you would think that they would extend their hours and do
whatever it would take to satify their customers concerns being that their
food may be killing our cats.

I'm impressed you got through MoMo! I've been trying to days.

I purchased Iams through PetFoodDirect.com, and they sent an e-mail to
customers telling them they have to deal with Iams directly. However
Iams has no mention on their website regarding how to go about
returning the food to them.

By any chance do you know what their policy is regarding where to
return recalled food?

I was shocked as well when I got through this morning.  I was on hold for a
good 15 minutes (while at work) but was determined to talk to someone and
nothing could have gotten me to hang up.  I have no idea what their policy is
about returning the food.  I only have a box a pouches left and was just
going to throw them out so I did not even ask.  Did your Iams food fall
within the recall codes?

I've been trying to get through for two days. I called from work today
too, and I gave up after waiting 20 minutes. You hit the lotto!

I have 3 unopened cases of Iams which I just bought. They don't have
the same date codes as the recalled products, but they're from the
same plant as the recall and there's NO WAY I'm feeding this to my
cats. I want to see if Iams will take it back, but if they say it
doesn't qualify as part of the recall I can get a refund from
PetFoodDirect.com. I e-mailed PFD to ask them what to do. I figured
I'll hear from them before I'll hear from Iams.

An odd thing happened this morning - I opened a can of Nutro Max Cat
Beef & Egg which my cats usually like, and they both walked away from
it without touching it. I threw it out immediately because they always
dig into their breakfast and gave them some dry food. Now I'm paranoid
that some things that weren't recalled yet might be bad. :-(

My heart goes out to anyone whose pet was effected by this.

Same thing happened to me.  The plant code on the food I have matches up but
the dates are not within the limits but there is still no way that I am
giving it to them.  I switched back to Friskies, which I use to feed them,
but I am also paranoid that it will appear on the recalled list in the future.
I am really considering cooking a chicken and feeding that to them for awhile.
The annoying thing for me is that I always fed my cat Friskies wet until
October when one of my boys suffered a blockage.  After that I thought
feeding them Iams, which I thought was a better quality food, would be better
for them and then lo and behold this happens and I should have just stayed
with Friskies.

Natural Balance is no good for my cats. They threw up on that stuff when I
brought a sample can home. I feed mine Blue Buffalo Spa Select which I find
works best for them.

The thing with my cats is that they will only eat the semi moist food in the
pouches.  They will not even entertain the thought of canned food so my
choices for food are limited.

Guess every cat is different.  Mine love the Natural Balance.  I also feed
them Wellness and PetGuard which they love as well.

You know, most of the other cat food companies have been very open on the
internet about which of their foods are a problem.  A few, like Iams, are
not.  You are directed to their web site which tells you nothing.  I don't
use them but was curious and was trying to look into them.  Definitely I can
understand your not using their products after this.

Of course I don't look busy,
I did it right the first time.

http://us.iams.com/iams/en_US/data_root/html/product_article/ProductRecallList.htm

I went to iams.com, then followed the link to the US website.  Default
page on the left.  I'm not certain when this list was posted.  They
have also now posted the list on the Menu Foods web site.

Good luck,
Heather
