Cat Suffers Depraved, Cruel Act; Dies as a Result

Phoenix, AZ---

The Arizona Humane Society and Silent Witness are offering a reward of up to
$5,000 for information that leads to the arrest or indictment of the
person(s) who carried out a depraved act of animal cruelty. The victim was a
cat who was found with rubber bands tightly bound around his genitals.
Anyone with information is urged to call Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS.

The 2-1/2-year-old male cat had to be humanely euthanized due to severe
septic shock that led to kidney failure, and to end his extreme suffering.

When AHS Chief Veterinarian Nancy Bradley examined the cat, his testicles
were very inflamed; and portions of the tissue around his genitals were
necrotic due to lack of blood flow. Additionally, the cat had an infection
around his scrotum, and he was not able to urinate, causing severe damage to
his bladder and kidneys. The cat was also severely emaciated and dehydrated.
The cat was probably very social - a feral or unfriendly cat would not allow
anyone to bind its testicles.

"We believe that someone carried out this depraved act at least two weeks
ago, then turned the cat loose," said AHS Public Information Officer Angela
Stringfellow.  "He suffered terribly before we rescued him.  Sadly, it was
too late for us to save him, but we know that at least we ended his horrific
suffering.  And now, we are committed to finding his abuser(s) and bringing
them to justice."

Experts believe the cat suffered for at least two weeks with rubber bands
bound around his testicles based upon forensic evidence.

An AHS Emergency Animal Medical Technician (EAMTT) received a call regarding
an injured stray cat who, according to the caller, had been hit by a car.
But when the EAMT arrived at  the scene, she made the gruesome discovery --
the suffering cat lay barely conscious near a parking lot.  The incident
took place near the intersection of 32nd Street and Greenway Parkway in
Phoenix (Phoenix Police DR# 2007-70324203).

This ENRAGES me.  I hope they find the future serial killer, do a psych
evaluation, determine he's a menace to society and lock his sorry a.s up
forever.  Some rubber bands wrapped tightly around his genitals until they
fall off would be nice, too.

I can dream.

Why?  I see no point.

Why not? It allows your voice to be heard just as much as it is here. We
also want to hear from all those cat lovers who feel just as outraged as we
are.

Yes, it is our radio station's forum. We are a radio station for cats and
would love to air the comments of those who post to the forum so it isn't
spam.

These kinds of post amount to troll posts in that they are designed to
upset.
Is there any other point? Anything anyone can do for this cat? Anything
anyone can do for ANY cat that anyone decides to torture, whether this
way or by denying the cat vet care and spaying, then letting her out so that
she has to have litter after litter, and be exposed to any diseased male
that
can get at her? HELL no, there is nothing we can do. People can do anything
at all to helpless animals. And many of these selfish morons can find lots
of
ways to rationalize the abuse, whether it is overt or via neglect.

This, and the fact that CP is an idiot, is why I have him killfiled.

Right again.

And it looks like this moron just wants to get traffic on his website.
Well instead he is getting plonked into oblivion where he belongs.

Cybercat, why is it you feel you have to resort to name calling? You seem to
do this in almost every forum you are in. Your posts are more trolling than
most people because you always want to start a flame war. And yes, there is
something you can do. You can report animal cruelty when it happens as it
occurs in every community. By making your voices heard and letting those who
commit acts of cruelty to animals that you will report them. This could help
save future cats from falling victim.

I hate, hate, hate when somebody posts articles like this. CP at least
did the right thing and made the header a sufficient warning.
I see enough of that stuff IRL and in the media. I can't do anything
about animal abuse when it's thousands of miles away. It's frustrating
and heartbreaking.

I'm with you, Sherry.  I skipped past this one. A subject like that
and I steer clear.

I know it's difficult but we can't also bury our heads in the sand and
pretend there's no problem. If anything by posting the article we will be
reminded to keep our cats indoors and safe. It's also a reminder that when
you see animal cruelty happening to report it.

This just sickens me. About 5 years ago someone set a cat on fire and all
its fur was burnt off. Someone took it to the Animal Hospital and was later
put to sleep. But this is just as sickening.

That's happened a few times here in Phoenix and each time nobody stepped
forward to say they saw the incident. In every case, there is usually
someone who saw or heard something. If they did they should call local law
enforcement not pretend it's someone else's problem.
