He's giving me THE LOOK

I've gotten into the habit of giving my cats "treats" at bedtime. When
I don't immediately produce the treats, one of the cats (Espy) will
stare at me and give me "THE LOOK". His eyes squit a bit and I can
just about hear his little brain broadcasting "the treats the treats
the treats". It is just the funniest look I've ever seen on a cat. I
mean, they're not big on facial expressions for the most part, but
that squit is just too cute. He doesn't mean it to be cute I think but
it comes out that way.

Does anyone else have a cat that squits?

Oops. He squints. I'm not sure what a squit is. Seems like a good word
waiting for a definition.

I was kinda wondering if I should ask what a squit was. ;-)

Mine are not as subtle as your guy; when they want something, they
make it abundantly obvious. Jacob, however, does do "googly eyes"
when he's feeling all lovey-dovey and drooly. This comprises about
90% of his waking activity, so I see the googly eyes a lot. :-)

Speaking of which, he saw me look at him and here he is, googly
already...

If memory serves, "Squit" was a particular pigeon on Animaniacs.

That's subtlety compared to my girls. The second I step foot in the
kitchen (which, by coincidence, is where the fridge is, and is by
happenstance where the raw beef is), I'd swear up and down that there were
cats coming in from all angles and dimensions wanting a bit of that london
broil I keep in the fridge for my two girls..

That so discribes my Tigger's eyes when he wants to leie down and cuddle and
knead my hand. He always does it in the same position and same hand. If he
wants it NOW, he will yell at me untill I lie down. Then he will sit and
stare at me with those googly eyes: his pupils are completely round and all
you see is blackness in his eyes. I;ve never seen this in a cat. he is kinda
half dozing at that point. Then he curles up inside my banded hand , puts
the tail on it and sucks on his tail, while kneading my hand. I got scars to
prove it! :)

He also makes those eyes when he just wakes up and is sitting in a daze.

Yeah, he is and he does :) He is a little sweetheart, and a total (5 yr old)
baby. He has to have a little tail-sucking and my hand-kneading for about 10
min every night, then he streches out over my hand and falls asleep and
sleeps on my hand all night.

Jacob used to suction-cup to my earlobe when he was young. Now he
just rubs his mouth on it. I never did break him of that habit, but
it is awfully cute, albeit a bit uncomfortable sometimes. Maybe I
should have taught him to suck his tail instead. ;-)

Yup, those are googly eyes, all right. :-)

Not Jacob; he reserves his googly eyes for when he's in luuuuv. ;-)

Errm. I think the British (well, I've read it in racing mysteries) use it as
a term for diarrhea. "The squits".

<snicker> That kinda makes the original post funny in a twisted way.

I have to cats that do the stare. I think that it their way of reminding you
that you are in their service and that you can't possibly sneak anything
past them.
