My cat LOVES to play with q-tips (cotton swabs).... he picks them up in his
mouth, bats them around, goes crazy with them.... he's as happy with one
that I hand him straight out of the box as he is stealing one from the
garbage container in the bathroom....

Anybody else's kitty do this?

I can't have straws in my drinks. The cats steal them.

LOL Tucker is not that bad... yet.
DH was funny enough to think the boys DON'T get on the counters at night
when everyone is in bed. But one day I picked up a straw passing the kitchen
breakfast nook and it was ALL chewed up <G> DH was sure I'd dropped it. so
the next night I put a straw on top of the water purifier, where, even if it
did fall, could not possibly get to the floor<G> And guess what! It was
chewed up in the living room next morning too.
Now I don't like the kitties on the counter and I swat Tuck when he is so
audacious to try, but I really *do* think it's pretty cute how sneaky they
are. lol
DH does not :) Good thing he loves Tucker silly!

My cats love pipe cleaners which are killed several times until they are
demoted to retrieving material. Guess who is in charge of throwing
them :-)
They would probably love q-tips should they ever encounter one. These
objects are just the right size for a kitty to handle.

Kona will play fetch with Q-tips.  I throw them, he chases after them
while they are in the air, then he kills them and brings them back and
puts them down at my feet.

I bought some colored pipe cleaners that both my cats will
spontanously start playing with. Funny how those pipe cleaners try so
hard to run away from the cats. I saw Sabastian "stalk" one the other
day from around the corner of an ottoman.  The bright colors are nice
because it makes it easier to spot them in their eventual resting
places-behind the sofa, under stuffed chairs, in closets, etc. :-)

So it's not a worry about the little metal thing inside? I'd be afraid Tuck
would put an eye out.

I bend the ends around just to be safe, although if you twist them up
into the pretzel type shapes that work best for them to play with I
don't think there's a significant risk the way the cats play with
them.  BTW, you can find these colored ones in the large pet stores.

Yup . The plastic rings from the top of milk jugs tend to show up all over
too.

Yes, it's a pretty common cat thing.  My first cat was a Q-Tips freak, & one
of my present cats is pretty enamored of them, too.

Q-tips are perfect for cats.  My oldest who doesn't bother with cat toys any
more will go crazy over a toothpick.  My new kitten will steal them if she
sees them in my basket!  They'll carry them around in their mouths and then
eventually you hope to pick them up before you have any company and they
think you are a slob.

Especially if your cats also play with milk rings, wadded up paper or
tinfoil, socks, hair bands, straws...

Ok, I wasn't sure....cause my roommate's cat has no interest in them
whatsoever.... so I wasn't sure how common it was... :)

It's pretty damn cute tho, I have to say, seeing him walking around with it,
and then stalking it after he leaves it somewhere..

I love it when they walk around with it in their mouths like a bone
from the Flintstones. :-)

I have to fold used q-tips inside the cardboard from a toilet paper
roll if I don't want one of the cats to search through the bathroom
garbarge and drag it all over the house!

Lucky stiff.  Our cats ignore q-tips - ball point pens are bigger and make
a funny rattling noise that they seem to like.

Yep! In fact I hide the used ones and try to placate Tucker with new ones
while I am busy using one.

My cat loves them. He always manages to get them stuck under the scales in
the bathroom. It is a good half hours entertainment for him trying to get it
back.
