Leaky cat question?

This morning there was a yellowish spot about an inch diameter on
the towel that T.K. sleeps on. It was dry when I saw it and had no
discernable smell. So I put a couple of drops of water on it and it still
had no scent. I've seen him pee in his box twice today and he seemed
to have no problem and when I stirred the box with a straw, there was
undoubtedly a "cat pee" smell and plenty of wet litter. He goes in for
neutering on Tuesday and I am going to ask our vet about it this evening
when she gets in to work. But I was wondering, could this be a, um, "horny
kitty" thing? He seems fine. Energetic and playful. Drinking water and eating.
And no abnormal licking between the legs.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Are you certain it wasn't a bit of spit up?

No, I'm not. But since it was where his hind end usually is, I'm assuming
that that's where it came from. It looked like it was maybe 3 of 4 drops of
urine, but no cat pee scent. No scent at all. And it soaked in like it had a
high water content, not really solid at all. After many years of balancing
medication with a hyperthyroid cat, I'm somewhat of an authority on cat
vomit and I'm pretty confident it came from the hind end.
Possibly kitty drool (I've had a real drooler, too), but again, no scent.
I'm a little baffled, here. I just don't want to ignore a possible problem that
could be developing for this little guy.
Thank you for your reply.

Well, I guess *I'd* put a clean unmarked sheet in his sleeping spot and see
if it happens again. Then I'd consult the vet if it did.

Oh, this is just yucky to type, but...

My cats have occasionally had, well, mucosal emanations along with
their feces. Perhaps he had just used the litterbox and hadn't yet
cleaned himself and there was a bit of whatever stuck to his rear
end.

Oh, It's a little yucky to read, too. <g>

It got me thinking, though. I think I gave him some hairball medication,
the stuff in the tube, a day or two prior to seeing the spot. I wonder
if that could have left a little oily residue on the way out. I would think
either the mucous or an oily residue would smell rather foul, though.
It's been 2 days, now, and no more spots. Our vet called this morning
to tell me that she had asked the other vets in the office (there are 5)
and none of them have ever heard of a "horny kitty" problem. But she
also said that "where cats are concerned, she learned a long time ago
to never say never". Nobody there thinks it's something to worry about
unless it starts recurring.

Thank you.
and Thanks again to all who replied.

Just what I was thinking, "what color is th food you are feeding?"
Some dry food has this yellowish color.

The little guy gets quite a variety, actually. Canned food....fancy feast, 9 lives,
whiskas, mostly. Every flavor and texture imaginable (my wife will spend 5
minutes buying food for our dinner, and 15 minutes shopping for cat food).
Dried food is 9 lives & meow mix. I believe he had some meow mix with a
can of fancy feast chicken for dinner last night.
I don't think he spit up anything because that has a very distinct smell (sour).
I don't think it was urine because that too has a distinct smell (indescribably
foul for a male cat). The spot seems to have no scent whatsoever (all I could
smell on the towel was "cat").
Talked to the vets office this evening and they were as baffled as I am. They
don't think we have an urgent care situation, though. And the suggestion is
to keep an eye on things and look for recurring events. He goes to the vet on
Tuesday and will get a bit of a checkup before neutering.
This evening he napped on the bed from about 6 - 11:30. No marks on the white
blanket. Washed his towel today so any more spots will be quite obvious.
I may be a little neurotic about his health care, but I just don't want to make
a mistake that our little guy has to pay for.

Thank you
