1. You should have two boxes for one cat
2. I would try unscented, clumping litter with no hood on the box
3. The kitten may have a medical problem and should be checked by a vet if
the above two do not work.

We were at the vets just two days ago and I mentioned it then, he said the
kitten is fine and healthy, he said that is could be stress because of my
other cat, but the kitten gets on better with the big cat than he does with
me!!! he also suggested that I should deny him access to the room where he
spoils which means moving his tray.......I have only moved it to outside the
room.
Someone has suggested changing his litter over gradually as older cats don't
like the wood based litter, also to have 2 trays one with a lid and one
without as he may have a preference (his current one does not have a lid).
Does all this sound right?

Yes, I would change the litter over to the clumping kind. Also, you should
definitely have at least two boxes for two cats.

the other cat doesn't use a litter box he goes outside, as will this one
when he's a little older

I would keep the lids off of the litter boxes.
