Just thought I'd let you know how T.K. has been doing.
His bite wounds have healed up and the fur is growing back. My wife
brought a stool sample in last week and we found that he had round worms.
So we had a lot of "fun" trying to get the medicine in him. I'm sure glad we
only had to do it once (and another dose in 3 weeks).
Now that he's been off the antibiotics and is obviously feeling better, we've
got a real wild little guy on our hands. He's been exploring the house and getting
into everything imaginable. He's been in "attack mode" for a few days and I've
got the scratches on my ankles to prove it. He's also gotten a bit nippy. When
he's tired of being held he lets me know by chomping down on my arm. Then
as I'm putting him down, he'll roll over, grab my arm, and kick the hell out of it.
And why is it that having a cat means always looking for lost keys under
the couch, first. <g>
He's been joining us on the bed in the evening, now. With the exception of a
few spontaneous attacks on our feet under the blanket, he's been pretty good.
We've been keeping the blinds closed when he's been upstairs from his room
in the basement, but today I made the mistake of introducing him to a window.
The outdoor kitty, in him, reappeared real fast. He's been trying to find a way out
ever since. I had been concerned that he would be bouncing off the glass but that
has not been a problem. Instead, he's been trying to climb the window. I've had
watch him constantly to keep him from hurting himself and/or scratching up
the window frame. I guess I went too far, too soon, with the window. I can close
the door to that room, but I hope he won't discover the other windows very soon.
Hopefully he'll realize that he's not going to get out and settle down quickly.
Otherwise, he's been doing well. I get an occasional "lap kitty" at the
computer. He isn't hissing at that other kitty in the mirror anymore. And in 4 weeks,
he has not started to spray. Neutering on Apr.12. I hope the spraying holds off
for a week and a half more. And maybe, just maybe, he'll calm down a bit after
getting fixed 'cause he's a real handful right now and I won't always be able to
dedicate 3 - 4 hours a day to entertaining him.
After 4 weeks there have been no "lost cat" posters in the neighborhood and
nothing in the papers. So I'd say at this point, we've got a cat.
