The same two cats we've been trying to catch, and finally caught the male
feral, just beat up James again. He's been inside for a good long while, but
we don't 100% keep him here. (Well now we're going to, actually, so
something good came from it, poor sweet baby James, though! But hubby and DD
agreed it's best for him to be inside)

ANYWAY... due to the fight, James is wounded. He's not mortally wounded, but
he's unhappy and hurts. though he is still purring like crazy.
I don't want to take him to the emergency vet unless 100% necessary. We
don't like him, the cats don't like him.
My question is this: Any ideas what to do for him in the interim, before
tomorrow morning?
He's not caterwauling, and he's purring lots, but of course he screeches
when we cleaned him up and when we check on his owies.

But it appears he is not in constant pain at least. I'm not worried about it
abscessing this quickly, we'll go very early tomorrow. My concern is
whatever I might not be thinking about. Anything I should be looking at/for?

Thanks so much!

Cats can often purr when in pain which is misleading. Is this purring a
normal behavior of his?

Sounds like he IS in pain then.

You mentioned the "purring like crazy"... is it constant purring? If so
then he may be in constant pain.

Injuries should always be attended to ASAP.

You might not like the vet, but at least the cat will get some medical care.

I've used both the H shaped harness and the figure-8 shaped harness on
Meep the TravelCat.  I endorse the figure-8: she seems more
comfortable with it, and isn't able to slip out like she could with
the H...
