Could you be starting some sh.t that someone else needs to finish in a way that does not please you? Could it be?
More to the point, could you be an idiot for continually complaining about long threads because you're using that moronbox WebTV unit, then insisting your WebTV is not the problem? I think this could be.
Now then, a lesson it might be good for you to learn now: if you don't like my posts, don't read them. I would say "killfile" me, but the fact is, you are using WebTV so you CAN'T. Get a computer or shut the hell up about the activity in a healthy, busy newsgroup.

why wouldn't someone breakdown and buy a 70 dollar pentium 3 and be normal
friesian@zoocrewphoto.com - 10 Mar 2006 00:32 GMT > why wouldn't someone breakdown and buy a 70 dollar pentium 3 and be > normal I see lots of Pentium IIs for free on craigslist. That is what I still use, and it works fine. It doesn't have to be fancy to beat webtv. Just functional. Also, there are lots of free monitors. I don't know if it is a state law or federal, but around here, you have to pay to dispose of a monitor, so people give them away free. Even large monitors. Especially as they upgrade to LCD screens.
There are also wireless keyboards. So, a nice setup is possible with a free computer and monitor. And either a long keyboard cord (for that free keyboard) or a small investment in a wireless keyboard.
And there are also some pretty cheap notebook computers. I got one a few years back for $150. I loaned it to my mom, and she managed to fry it (plugged in the wrong AC pack), so I ended up buying a fancier used laptop for a bit more. But there are certainly plenty of good deals out there on computers that will easily do the job.
And viruses really aren't that much of a problem. Either run antivirus programs on a daily basis, or use software that doesn't automatically open attachments (and use your brain to choose what to open and what to delete).
I've been online since 1993. I have never had a virus problem. I have certainly receieved plenty, sometimes multiples times in a day as I get a lot of spam and garbage. But after deleting them and cleaning my system by choosing what to open and what to delete, I have only found one virus with antivirus software. And it was in a file that a friend sent to me - an excel file that she wanted me to proofread. I do not use excel or outlook, so the virus was not able to run on my computer.
My parents, on the other hand, will attempt to open anything that is sent to them, so they have to keep the antivirus program running all the time. And even though they try to open everything, they have never had a virus problem either. They still don't know how to print a photo or forward an email, but they don't have viruses. Viruses are not a big problem if you have the right tools and avoid the programs that are usually attacked.

not to mention a pc monitor delivers 16million colors vs a tv, it just a richer experience if you have a good video card and a big monitor
if you had a digital projector you can put your computer on the wall and have big internet, big movies big pictures (all from the lazy boy recliner)
i want to also add cable tv to this technological perpetration by adding a simple tv card to one of my pci slots. windows came out with a media center edition, it will download the premium channels onto the hardrive...you get the tv guide, or just use remote for the cable box on the tv..you know.
by all means! run all of this through as many watts of sound you can get.
and you might need some popcorn for a good move...wall size monitor means, watch tv and surf the net all from the lazy boy or stair stepper

We have 3 skylights in our kitchen and we can run ours in the connected little family room (like a great room), no problem.

i used to own a super wide screen HD flat wall mount tv
pc looked real sharp on it
i sold it and spent the money at studio B in nashville. It was worth it, I sat at the same piano that elvis and jerry lee played, chuck berry, bob seger, well..just anyone you can imagine.
what makes studio b unique is, there is a 12x12 room over the studio, vocals are piped up there, and played out through a speaker...the speaker is mic'd and then pumped back into the console downstairs. the mic upstairs has been there for decades

What first-person shooters or real-time strategy games have you played with that setup?

Just [quoted text clipped - 23 lines] >and you might need some popcorn for a good move...wall size monitor >means, watch tv and surf the net all from the lazy boy or stair stepper Bah. I just refurbished my Thinkpad 560x, with a new 40gb hdd and a DDO. You wouldn't believe the crud I cleaned out of this box when I took it apart. I could have rolled a joint, except the flakes of dope were all stuck in coagulated food debris. This machine has led a hard life. But it's clean now, and it's still a great laptop.
