Scottie's endoscopy...

is tomorrow...wish him well.  Maybe it's a giant hairball, that would
be cool.  They don't show on x-rays.  He hasn't barfed one in ages and
he is a big hairball barfer so maybe that's it.  The vet never
mentioned that as a possibility but I was reading on the internet and
it could be.  That's my hope.

So...I get this email fom my poor mom today that she was hospitalized
from last Tues. thru Friday. She lives 2,000 miles away and is 85.  She
had bloodwork done on Tues., routine, and her dr. called her and told
her to get to the hospital immediately, that her count was way low.  So
she had a bunch of tests (endoscopy, colonoscopy) and they determined
that it's due to her celebrex which she takes for arthritis and aspirin
which she takes daily as a preventative.  So she had to d/c the
celebrex and then her foot got really swollen and hurt badly and she
couldn't walk without a walker but then the gastro doc told her there
is another drug she can take with celebrex to coat the innards,
protonix, I have to look it up.  So she started that and the severe
pain in her foot and ankle dissipated and the swelling is going down.
She said she has had no energy for months and thought it was just cuz
she's getting old but now she feels much better and thinks that was the
cause all along.  But here I am horrified about my cat and my poor old
mom is in the hospital.  She didn't want to tell me.  Her friends and
pastor knew.

I've told Scottie that his grandma just had an endoscopy so he can
tough it out, too.  Send good thoughts, prayers, whatever you can for
him (and my mom, whose cat, Henry has been acting like a good nursecat,
she said).

It's a possibility.  I went through one with Peewee that nearly killed
him.

Argh - doesn't that drive you insane?  My Mom used to try to pull the
same thing with me.

Well, as George S. Patton famously said, "when sorrows come, they come
not single spies, but in battalions."  I wish you, Scottie and your
mom all the best, Candace.

Sounds like my Mom. She's 90 and I frequently hear how she's doing through
the grapevine and my Mom's only an hour away.
