This morning, I found a bit that was lighter than the others in the
litterbox. It turned out to be a BandAid he must have pulled from the
trash . . .
Now it appears he's chewed through an elastic band on a plastic folder
and apparently swallowed half of it, along with the metal grommet on the
end. Seems okay, but I'll keep an eye on him and try to get him into the
veterinarian's early tomorrow just in case . . .

Damn, Diane, Hodge is like Jaws! ;) I hope he is okay. Maybe give him
a bit of Laxatone to 'ease the passage?'

I have the scars to prove it, though no missing limbs yet.

Good idea. I may take him in for an X-ray tomorrow, depending on how he
seems to be doing and other things. I dunno. I don't want to take him in
unnecessarily, but we'll see how he's doing. He seems fine now, after I
retrieved his little orange hinder out of the recycling bag. Yeesh.

Yep, cats are distant relatives of goats. They'll sometimes eat
anything. The grocery bag thing is still the bigger mystery. I've
never decorated for Xmas because she won't leave stuff alone.

Someone requested an update. Well, er, I don't know what happened. The
elastic is still missing, I didn't detect it in any of the four or five
moments since (not that I dissected each piece, mind you), and Hodge
himself seems to be thriving, active, and pissy as usual.
Speaking of pissy (this time literally :), a friend brought back some
different UK brands of cat foods, so I'm feeding Hodge Katkins for one
meal a day (that's why I asked about it a couple of days ago).
Naturally, I'm hesitant to play with food because he's on c/d due to one
or two incidents of struvite crystals, but I figured half of his diet
for a couple of weeks probably won't hurt. The Katkins is very high in
gravy, so it's making him pee. A lot. Which I figure is a good thing,
keeping his little ureter flushed. It's even better that he's actually
peeing in the box (knocks on wood) . . .
I wish c/d were slightly higher in moisture, and I suppose I could try
adding water to it and making it soupy. Hodge will eat anything
(including food straight out of the fridge, Bandaids, elastic, styrofoam
. . .), so I don't think he'll reject it.
