Does anyone know of a site where the various commercial cat foods are
rated by how healthy the food is? I'd like to find out what's in some of
the non-grocery store brands that claim to be healthier without having
to spend the time locating each brand on the web and visiting every site.
            Thank you.

With all due respect, why wouldn't you be willing to do the research yourself?
Most sites on the web only list foods based on their ingredient list and don't
take into account nutrient levels and whether or not those levels are excessive
for the particular lifestage/lifestyle of the cat.  (There are so many games
played with ingredient lists in the pet industry, that you won't be getting
accurate information anyway)  Otherwise, you're relying on somebody else's
information which may or may not be correct.  By calling companies directly,
you'll find how knowledgeable those companies are and which aren't.  By the
way, if you do check, be sure to compare nutrient levels on a "dry matter
basis" to get an accurate comparison.

Most all of the "premium" foods (that can't be found in grocery stores) use
better quality ingredients.  But what's really important are the levels of
protein, fat, phosphorus, calcium, magnesium, calorie content, sodium, etc.
You won't get those levels by looking at an ingredient list.

Well, that really depends on how you define healthy.

How DO you define healthy?

Analysis of canned and dry cat food. These were made for CRF cats in
particular but you may find what you are looking for.

Thank you Mary. I live in a small town in Alaksa and have been mail
ordering my cat food for years from an outlet that specializes in
nutural and organic products for pets. They went out of business so I
now have to find a new supplier. I need to learn about some brands
other than the ones I've used for years, Innova, Wellness, and Pet
Guard. I don't have any available labels to read.

Jaguar,
Where in Alaska? I know food gets shipped all the way to Barrow, which
is about as small as you're going to get and as hard to service as anywhere
else. Do you have a vet in town?
