If enyone recalls, I am the guy who's disabled mom smokes in her
apartment - cat wouldn't clean herself and was genrally lethargic.
Anyway, I bought cat wipes, some catnip, ear mite medicine and a new
brush at Petco, and I go to town on the cat every week or two. 14
year old Fatass is cool with all of it, even the ear mite medicine.
(poor cat has has them on and off all her life.)
I also sprung for an $80 hepa air filter - and again tried to tell mom
the importance of fresh air for the cat.
Her apartment has a small balcony, would it be good to put a bird
feeder out there so the cat can watch the birds?
Thanks,
Bluesman

The more mental activity (like bird watching) the better it is, just like
for us. I'm glad things seem to be improving.

Glad to hear you tried all those suggestions, I'm sure the cat is much
better off now! The bird feeder sounds like a great idea! Hope all keeps
going well!

Yes. The birds'll be safe, & she'll love watching them. :-) As may your
mom.

I think it's a *great* idea. My cats have one that's just about two feet from
their little faces at the window. Aside from Bootsie risking a concussion from
occasionally getting carried away and flinging herself against the pane, they
love it!
They also love the guppies, but that's probably not a good idea for you since
it would just create more work for your mom.
Does the HEPA seem to be making difference? How about Fatass? Has she perked up
from the attention, and the ear mite treatment? Best of luck. Please keep us
posted.

Yay for Fatass! And you too. Your Mom is lucky to have you. I bet she
feels better too. Yes, a bird feeder would be great! Also, I have a
... ahem ... full-figured cat at home too (Buddha) and I just tried a
laser pointer (for her to chase) as a toy and it is WAY hilarious! She
can't understand it and goes nuts. When I flick it off she looks all
over for it. It beats the hell out of the feather on a string because
my arm doesn't get tired. The only warning is, if you get one you must
let your Mom know never to point it at Fatass's eyes. I think it might
be a real hoot for your mother and great exercise for the cat! Nice to
hear back from you! How about some pics of FA? :)
