We have a family of stary cats that live on/under/near our deck.  All winter they have been peeing
on the snow on top of the deck or possibly under the deck.  Now that the snow is melting, our
backyard smells like Cat Pee really Bad!!

How can we get rid of the smell?

Main thing to keep in mind is that the cats may be under the deck at any time so spraying something
on it would have to be something that won't harm them if it gets on them.  Anyone have any ideas on
something hopefully non-toxic or whatever?

Thanks!

It is the normal natural perfume of cats. That's the way you need to
look at it, since it would be much easier to get rid of the cats than
it will be to get rid of their scent. We have an inside male who has
never been sexually mutilated. He marks his territory very
infrequently now-days. But it has not always been so.
I say get used to it. Be a big help in the long run. Just my two
scents :)

These cats have all been spayed/neutered.  They aren't marking their territory they've just been
peeing on the deck in the winter because it's available to them.

In the summer they go away from the house which is fine.  Just need to get the smell off my deck.

Regardless of whether their balls have been whacked or not, they are
still marking their territory. You don't think you can just cut out
millions of years of ingrained instinct, now do you... ? Just why do
you think they are abandoning their usual piss-points to so-grace your
deck? Because other non-mutilated males were marking it first. It's
hopeless. Forget it. That or buy a cat-hating dog.

Vinegar!  Big cheap bottles of it.  Poured or sprayed.  Won't hurt the
cats or other wildlife, will kill weeds & bacteria, and doesn't smell
once it has dried.
