Purple bumps in ears?

Hello,
My male 10 year old housecat developed a purple bump (about the size of an
engorged deer tick) inside one ear about 18 months ago.  My vet told me it was
benign, nothing to worry about.  I am concerned because while it hasn't changed
in shape or size, there appear to be dozens more tiny bright bluish
pinhead-sized marks in both ears now.
I am just wondering if anyone else has had experience with these  ear growths
in the past and can shed light on any common causes and treatments.  I would
like to know if they have a tendency to be cancerous or not.  I would not like
to have any removed if they are superficial and not concerning.  I have not
wanted to put him through surgery even for a biopsy if it is not warranted.
Any suggestions???
Thanks!
Liz

Never heard of this but I would sure want more of an answer than that. Is
there another vet you can go to?

Thanks, Karen...
I intend to check it out with someone else.  I just don't know how conservative
or aggressive to be.  The few other vets I've been to are surgery-pushers, and
I have felt that they've done more harm than good with our other critters in
the past.
