I saw dogs galore - in public places - while on vacation in France, but not
cats. Yet, in Peter Gethers' books, he talks of Norton being welcomed into
French restaurants all of the time, & being catered to as a special sort of
guest. So... I don't know if they were being extra-nice & bending the rules
for Norton (& Peter), or if people just don't tend to bring their cats with
them when going to public places.

I think some cats would cower & desperately wish they'd been left at home,
while others would be - provided they were permitted - all *over* the place.
While others would more politely wander around, making friends w/other
diners & probably quietly trying to cadge some food, &/or sit on laps.
