Tonkinese cat always being sick

We have a 4 year old Tonkinese female cat which is always sick, at
least once every 2 days. She is an indoor cat which is a problem,
especially as we have new carpets through the whole house. Nobody has
been able to give us any idea how to resolve the problem, not even a
vet.

Has anyone out there had the same problem? If so, have a solution.
Maybe a type of food to recommend or medication?

Is she throwing up almost immediately after she eats - like w/in 5 minutes
or so?  If it's dry food, does it come up looking basically as it looked in
the bowl, only now damp & warm?  If you don't clean it up immediately, does
she eat it the second time around (hey, to each their own!), & does it stay
down the second time?  If this is the case, it's most likely benign, & is
fairly common; my first cat did it her entire life.  Cats have the
propensity to be able to throw up at the drop of a hat.

Or is it a longish while after she eats & partially digested by the time she
throws up?  In this case, I'd look into it further, asking the vet for a
referral to another vet who may be able to diagnose the problem.  There are
vets who have specialties, although I honestly don't know if the are vets
who specialize in gastro-intestinal probs.

I'm assuming when you say she is getting sick that she is vomitting?
I would definitely try another vet then, preferably one who has either a
practice soley dedicated to cats, or who is very knowledgeable about cats.
Regardless, your cat needs a second opinion ASAP.

Yes. Get a second opinion. She could have inflammatory bowel disease or many
other illnesses.

You could try food for sensitive stomachs. My Pearl (who has a lot of
siamese in her) is frequently sick. The least little hair in her system
causes her to upchuck for days. I really don't have a way around it, but a
spot buster and Folex from Target.

New carpets throughout the house. Does the place still smell like Vinyl
Acetate, (BASF they don't make the carpet, they make it better)?

Am wondering if her undefined sick reaction started at the same time the
carpets were replaced? If so, perhaps because she is lower to the floor than
we are the new rug smell may be overpowering to her.

Peter

Did this start after getting the new carpet or was it a problem before?
