Returning a "lost" cat? Need help...

rockandrollbadboy - 31 Jan 2004 06:32 GMT
My girlfriend had been asking me for a cat for sometime. After several
weeks I finally went out to get one. I waited for hours till I saw a
stray scratching on someone's door. I brought it home and my
girlfriend loved it. Long story short - she is spending way too much
time with this cat. We had several conversations about what to do. She
fears that I will once again become violent over this issue, so we
agreed that I will leave the cat where I found it.  I lost the
original tags that were on the stray and don't remember the address.
Is it safe to let it out and hope for the best - or should we leave it
with a shelter?

Need help please!

Hmmmm, I give it a 4.7 on the trollometer.  Also, just as an FYI, strays don't
generally have tags.  Kinda defeats the purpose of calling them "strays."

Oh, yes, and the cat was scratching on someone's door.  That makes two
points that make this an obvious troll.  Well, more than two points --
reference to his violence, etc.  Let's lower it to a 3 on the trollometer.

Dare we suggest an alternative hobby?

Like dodging trucks on the interstate?

I was putting it at about a .4, myself. Way too obvious.

I give him a 3.2. He forgot to mention he had the tagged stray declawed.

I think we need a little graphic, like a sign with numbers 1-10, so we
can rate them like they do in the Olympics and at horse trials. I give
him a 3.3. Too obvious.

A stray does not wear tags. You sound like a total idiot. Is it safe to

MaryL,

The next time I reply to a troll, I'll try to refrain from mentioning a
location, even though I know where it comes from.

Sorry if you were offended, but after all, this is Usenet, not for easily
offended.

Hi,

I wasn't really that easily offended ... I was trying to be a bit funny,
too.  I think we all say things like that sometimes.

It's a shame the real owner couldn't see this thread. Instead of $300 for
finding the cat, it would be someone knocking on the door to talk about the
cat being stolen.
The best thing would be for the OP to take the $300 and invest in anger
management classes.

Well, I'm sure it wouldn't take much to find an email address for Rick Dees.
In fact, I guess I'll go look now.  If this really was true, a) I'm glad the
cat got back to its real owner but b) I can't believe this bonehead actually
"stalked" looking for a cat for several hours and then stole it.  There are
other ways to get cats.  I hope this bonehead drops dead from mad cow disease
or something worse.  This girlfriend of his must be some major moron to live
with him.  She oughtta croak in some disgusting way, too, imho.

didn't want Rick contact because (1) the story was a heap of bullshit,

As it turns out, sir, I am an acquaintance of Mr. Dees from long ago.
I used to visit with Bruce Vidal when he worked at KIIS, and spoke to
Dees on a number of occasions.  Was on air a few times, too.  I'm more
than happy to fill him in on these events, so let's hope you're just
some moron troll making it up and he'll only be amused.  If not, you
can look forward to an arrest on theft of property, extortion, and
fraud, as I know he never takes anyone crap and would not hesitate to
throw everything at you that he possibly can.  At the very least I
would recommend that Robin go down to the courthouse without delay and
pay her warrants so she doesn't get arrested and have to go through
central booking again.  As for you, I recommend you beg your mommy for
$300 to give back to Mr. Dees.  He may go easier on you (though
probably not let you off the hook entirely).
MacCandace - 08 Feb 2004 22:03 GMT
<< As for you, I recommend you beg your mommy for

Well, I sure hope he wouldn't go easy on this moron if this is all true.
Sheesh.  The guy stalked the neighborhood looking for cats, according to his
story.  That's pretty creepy/sicko to think of some bonehead lurking in the
bushes watching for a cat to come his way.  All the evidence is right in Google
for anyone, including Rick Dees, to see...if it really happened.  I'm having a
hard time believing this bonehead Brett could be quite as stupid as he
professes.

Brandy, if you do know Rick Dees or someone on his staff, it would be nice if
you could find out if there is any truth to any of this moronic story.  I don't
know if anyone will write back to me or not.  Maybe you could print out the
whole sordid story from the beginning and get it to him.  It oughtta creep him
out to know his neighborhood was being stalked, not to mention that his poor
cat was snatched from its own front porch.  And now this Brett knows where Rick
lives, if it's all true.  That would bother me.  He (Rick) ought to go as hard
on him as he can.  It's a lot more than the 300 bucks...it was theft, stalking,
fraud, extortion, who knows what.  Get the story to him.  Do you know if he
really lives where this Brett said he lives?

Hmmm, well, I did write to Rick Dees and point out to him rpchb where he can
get all the "evidence" he needs.  But I'm sorry...this is just all too
trollish.  I can't believe this Brett could be such a moron, it's too
impossible to believe anyone is that stupid so I am back to thinking it was all
trolling from the start.  Maybe he was offended that we gave him such low marks
on the trollometer for his original story and felt the need to embellish
further?  Otherwise, he certainly sounds like a candidate for the Darwin
awards.  I can only hope we hear back from Rick Dees' staff as to whether any
of this was true otherwise it will remain an annoying little mystery.
